Friday’s Frugal Five: 4th Of July Salads and Sides

Fresh strawberries, juicy watermelon, crunchy lettuce: nothing beats a summer salad! And with in-season fruit comes in-season sales which make the bounty even sweeter. As you hunt for 4th of july food ideas, whether you’re bringing a dish or preparing the whole feast, these five frugal amazing salads will have your mouth drooling and your wallet saving!

1.A Classic Twist: Cookie Cutter Fruit Salad. Spruce up this red, white and blue summer salad by cutting the watermelon slices with a star-shaped cookie-cutter. Simple, fresh and frugal! Recipe and photo from: Wit & Whistle.

4. Shake it up: Blueberry, Strawberry and Jicama Salad! This sweet and savory salsa dish will encourage guests to embrace their wild side.
