As sad as I am to see the summer come to a close, I am just as excited to see football season start up! As you may have guessed from my recent blog post on fitness, I am an avid sports fan. Nothing says fall for me more than Saturdays spent cheering on the Boston College Eagles and Sundays spent cheering on the New England Patriots.
For those of us throwing viewing parties or lucky enough to tailgate at the stadium, there’s always some pressure to churn out tasty and delicious dishes. Here are 8 great and tasty tailgating recipes to try this season!
1. A Classic Stand-by: Guacamole. I can attest that this recipe from the Barefoot Contessa is the best I’ve ever had (and okay, yes, I make it most of the time). Photo from Simply Recipes.

2. Wing it! Pick your Favorite Recipe: There are so many options for wings, check out these 7 options from the Food Network and choose your favorite! I’m leaning towards Bobby Flay’s Hot Wings.

3. Have a Lighter Option: Fall Salad of Corn, Cherry Tomatoes and Oven-Roasted Green Onions. I love how Epicurious built this around the season! It’s also always great to have light options for your guests who may be watching what they eat.

4. An Awesome Chili Recipe: 77 people rated this one and 92% of them would make it again (also love the Boston shoutout!). Photo from Chesapeake Cigar.

5. Turn Your Run-of-the-Mill Hot Dogs into Out-of-this-World Hot Dogs! One reviewer merely said,“ crazy, crazy good” and 100% of people who made them would make them again! These Cheddar Dogs with Cider-Braised Leeks and Apples are definitely going onto my recipe to-do list.

6. Have Vegetarian Options such as this Mediterranean Couscous & Lentil Salad: 129 people rated this recipe and 98% said they would make it again. I like those odds! Photo from InyoMouth.

7. Fun Cocktails & Mocktails such as Beer Margaritas or Sweet Peach Tea: It’s always fun to have a new option for people and these beer margaritas are so easy to make. It’s also always good to have non-alcoholic drinks for the kids or anyone who may not be drinking!

8. Can’t Leave Out Dessert: Peanut Butter and Fudge Brownies with Salted Peanuts. Dessert is my favorite part of any meal and this one looks like a total winner. If there’s someone who has a nut allergy, here’s a recipe for Cocoa Brownies without nuts!

Hopefully these 8 recipes will give you some frugal and fun ideas on how to spice up your tailgate this fall! In the meantime, what are some of your favorite recipes for fall?! (Oh, and Go Pats!)
